Hank Haney IJGA Student to compete in 69th Central American Golf Championship

By: Lauren Geisecke

Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy standout, Laura Restrepo from Panama City, Panama, will be defending her title in the 69th Central American Golf Championship.  The Black Pearl Golf Course at Pristine Bay Resort in Roatan, Honduras will be host to the prestigious championship February 27-March 3, 2012.

Restrepo has had plenty of success during her time on the International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) by winning the IJGT event at Hilton Head Lakes in Hardeeville, S.C., placing second at the Falcons Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee, Fla., and finishing third at the 4th Annual Hank Haney Invitational at Harbour Town Golf Links.  Her next IJGT event will be at The Low Country Challenge at Oyster Reef on April 28-29, 2012.  Restrepo is currently ranked 75th in the Golfweek ranking and won the championship last year by shooting an 80 the first round followed by a 71 then finished out with a final round score of 73 for an 8 shot victory.

Congratulations, Laura, on this great honor - and best of luck in Panama! We look forward to sharing more of your successes as you set out for collegiate golf in the fall at University of Louisville!
